CONDITIONS

Temperatures in October can still get into the 80's. In 2007 the race was held the same day as the infamous Chicago heat
marathon. We highly recommend carrying a bottle with you during the race, and reserve the right to stop you during the race, if you appear severly underhydraded. 70% of the course is shaded.

Race Package Pickup

Please pick your # up on Raceday at the start between 7:30AM & 8:30AM. We can/will not start the race, until everybody is taken care off, so please don't be late. Unfortunately the park does not open earlier, so we can't start registration earlier.

REGISTRATION

You may register by mailing in your application ($65 is postmarked by Sept 10th, $75 after) or simply We are expecting a larger field this year, due to the increasing popularity of ultra trail running and the fact that Blues Cruise Ultra has been recommended by Runners World to try out ultra trail running. The race is limited to 350 runners, therefore we recommend registering as early as possible. Race day registration may be available, if race does not sell out. Please check website the day before,if you are planning on signing up on race day.

LODGING

We are also currently working to get a group deal. About 2 weeks before the race, we will send out an email asking who still needs a room. Once we negotiate a room rate, we can forward you that info.

GOODIES

All preregistered runners will receive a fully zippered performance jacket.All runners finishing within the posted timelimit will also receive a finisher award. You will have the opportunity to run on well marked and picturesque trails around Blue Marsh Lake. We invite all runners to our post race BBQ, where you can enjoy a Bratwurst sandwich with german potatoe salad, plus the usual stuff.

MEDICAL & AID

We will have an ambulance on location during the race. If you get injured or feel you require medical assistance due to any circumstances , locate a volunteer to call the race director. 7 fully stocked Aidstation support you, and will also provide basic first aid.

AWARDS

Award ceremony is at 2:00PM. If you can't stick around to pick up your reward, please notify race director, and we will check where you placed and hand you the proper award.  Some age group awards might be presented right at the finish, if winner has not reached finish line before 2:00PM. 

Time Limit

This is not a hike. This is a running event, and you have to be properly trained to enter the race. Time limit is 7:30 hours. For your own safety, cutoff times will be strictly enforced. You have to reach Aidstation #5 (mile 17.5) within 4 hours. You have to be able yo maintain a 14.5 min per mile pace.


POST RACE BBQ

will start right after the first runners finishes the race. We invite everyone to stick round and celebrate. Please note race is held at a public park, therefore there is no alcohol allowed on the premises. Park will close at dawn.
