CONDITIONSTemperatures in October can still get into the 80's. In 2007 the race was held the same day as the infamous Chicago heatmarathon. We highly recommend carrying a bottle with you during the race, and reserve the right to stop you during the race, if you appear severly underhydraded. 70% of the course is shaded. Race Package PickupPlease pick your # up on Raceday at the start between 7:30AM & 8:30AM. We can/will not start the race, until everybody is taken care off, so please don't be late. Unfortunately the park does not open earlier, so we can't start registration earlier.REGISTRATIONYou may register by mailing in your application ($60 is postmarked by Sept 19th, $55 after , no tech shirt) or simply register online We are expecting a larger field this year, due to the increasing popularity of ultra trail running and the fact that Blues Cruise Ultra has been named RCCA PA 50K Championship. The race is limited to 250 runners, therefore we recommend registering as early as possible. Race day registration may be available, if race does not sell out. Please check website the day before,if you are planning on signing up on race day.LODGINGwww.dutchmotel.comThis place is cheap ($35 for a single, $40 for a double), but looks clean. They have only 14 units, so please make reservation early. They are about 13 miles from the start, unfortunately everything close to Reading is usually over $100. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This hotel is very close (about 4 miles) and it is very easy to get to the start from there (just 1 turn). Holiday Inn Express 2389 Bernville Road Reading, PA 19605 Roomrate $95 for single room with King bed and pullout sofa. Must call direct at (610) 372 0700 and mention Blues Cruise 50K to receive that promotional rate. GOODIESAll runners will receive a long sleeve tech top and tech socks. All runners finishing within the posted timelimit will also receivea finisher award. You will have the opportunity to run on well marked and picturesque trails around Blue Marsh Lake. We invite all runners to our post race BBQ, where you can enjoy a Bratwurst sandwich with german potatoe salad, plus the usual stuff. MEDICAL & AIDWe will have an ambulance on location during the race. If you get injured or feel you require medical assistance due to any circumstances , locate a volunteer to call the race director. 8 fully stocked Aidstation support you, and will also provide basic firstaid. AWARDSAward ceremony is at 2:30PM. If you can't stick around to pick up your reward, please notify race director, and we will checkwhere you placed and hand you the proper award. Some age group awards might be presented right at the finish, if winner has not reached finish line before 2:30PM. Time LimitThis is not a hike. This is a running event, and you have to be properly trained to enter the race. Time limit is 7:30 hours. For your own safety, cutoff times will be striktly enforced. Turnaround at 15.5 3:30 hours, Ratsnest Aidstation #6 5:00 hours, Octoberfest Aidstation#7 6:00. Any runner who continues after failing to meed the cutoff will be banned from al future Blues Cruise 50K runs. POST RACE BBQwill start right after the first runners finishes the race. We invite everyone to stick round and celebrate. Please note race is held at a public park, therefore there is no alcohol allowed on the premises. Park will close at dawn. |
